EXME' Art Festival

The district of Santa Teresa di Pirri is dressed in new colors: from gray outskirts relegated to the margins of the city it turns into a colorful center of cultural and social gathering aimed at children and young people who live that reality daily.

To give life to this new course, the initiative of the Fondazione Domus de Luna inside the Young Centre of Exmè Domus de Luna in collaboration with the cultural association The AB Factory under the artistic direction of Andrea Concas, founder of the art publisher Art Backers, and the technical support of the street artist Manu Invisible, contribute to give birth of Exmè ART.

To celebrate the new artistic path of the Exmè youth center, from 1 to 6 November 2017, Exmè ART Festival will take place during which twelve internationally renowned artists, in dialogue with the children and young people of the district, will create works along the perimeter walls of the the building, following the theme chosen for 2018 by the children of the Exème: THE SPACE OF THE STARS AND THE PLANETS.

The initiative, aimed at enhancing the artistic path carried out in recent years by the Youth Center Exmè, makes the space of the former civic market, an art center that foresees a multi-year program, with the aim of starting a path of growth and inclusion. social thanks to the emblematic force of Street Art.

The Fondazione Domus de Luna

was founded in 2005 to assist and treat children and young people in situations of serious hardship, recognized for its activities of reception and care by the Presidency of the Sardinia Region and the Ministry of the Interior.
The Foundation’s interventions are aimed at combating the manifestations of hardship recognized by the Social Services, by the Juvenile Court and by the other deputized institutions, and by preventing their development through awareness campaigns and preventive measures.

Among the most recent actions, Domus de Luna has opened the Youth Center Exmè, an area of ​​aggregation and confrontation arose in place of the former civic market of the Santa Teresa district in Pirri, which involves children aged 6 to 25, offering they are an alternative space to the street, a place in which to talk using means such as music and art to confront, socialize and express themselves.

In recent years, the external walls of the building where Exmè stands have become a means of creative expression of hundreds of young people, who have also seen the involvement of numerous street artists of national and international fame, becoming a natural open-air museum.

During the days of the Art Festival there will be events, educational workshops and shared moments of sociality, during which over ten Sardinian artists and street artists will take part in the first edition, including: Andrea Casciu, Conan, Federico Crisa, Enea, Alessio ErranteKofa KofaLa Fille BerthaLuigi LaiManu InvisibleMarjani, Davide Medda e SKAN.

The inauguration of the Exme ART Festival will take place on 6 November 2017 starting at 4.00 pm on the occasion of the Women and men of good will day at EXME ‘in Via Antonio Sanna 17 in Pirri.
